We are delighted to welcome Dr. Richard A. Brake who will be leading St. Michael Academy (SMA) beginning this 2018-19 school year. Extraordinarily qualified to teach History and English, Dr. Brake will also serve in our Humanities department as a part-time instructor.
Dr. Brake has earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Temple University, an M.A. in Government from the University of Virginia, and a B.A. in History and Government from Georgetown University. For the past five years, Dr. Brake has led The Institute for Family Studies as its President and Regina Luminis Academy high school in Berwyn, Pennsylvania as Head of School and part-time Teacher.
Dr. Brake’s teaching experience in high schools and college began in 1990. He also has extensive policy experience working on a local school board and within federal and state legislatures. He is a retired Officer from the U.S. Army and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
